Building an apartment complex.

I have to decide on the directory structure for moving our users over to a new FTP-Web server machine.

I would like to construct this mess sensibly, but I haven't been able to find any good resources that describe best practices for this type of thing.

I was thinking about having each user have their own directory, and below that have a public_html directory, and below that a directory named private withan example .htaccess file, including how to use different password combos. Maybe even a weblog software install, with a default template. Can't use MovableType for that, I checked and it is explicitly frowned upon.

Limit users to their own directory, figure out some exceptions for domain hosts(shouldn't be hard since all user info is in MySQL), give myself and others free reign to lord over our hapless victims, and then fidure out how to set up public space for our software repository.

And I also have to figure out how to crawl out from under fastnet's IP space so I can tell them to piss up a rope.

Nothing to it, right?
