What Time Is It In Indianapolis?

If one were taking people to fly out of Indianapolis this weekend, and pick them up on the last Sunday of March, 2005, and were originally travelling to Indianapolis from the Central time zone, one might encounter an interesting situation.

See, the Central Timezone in the US is currently on Standard Time, and Indianapolis in in the Eastern Timezone, also currently on Standard Time.

On Sunday, March 27th, 2005, both the Eastern Timezone and the Central Timezone will begin observing Daylight Savings Time, where all clocks are moved forward one hour at 2 AM(also coloquially known as "springing forward").

However, Indianapolis does not observe Daylight Savings Time, will not be springing forward, and will then be on the equivalent of Central Daylight Savings Time. In other words, Indianapolis is on Eastern Standard Time year round, which amounts to it being on Eastern Standard Time over the winter, moving to Central Daylight Savings Time in the spring, and returning to Eatern Standard Time in the fall, all while never adjusting it's clocks once. Indianapolis maintains, while the world rushes around it.

So, if one is taking someone to the airport in Indianapolis before March 27, 2005, and picking them up on March 27, 2005, and the trip to the Indianapolis Airport is a 2 hour drive from the Central TimeZone, how early should one leave before the flight to arrive on time?

This is why it is always good to know what time is it in Indianapolis?
